Graycliff Docent Training 2013 will begin on Saturday, April 27th and continue on Saturday mornings at 9 am through June 15th (Except Memorial Day weekend.) Graycliff Docents guide tours for visitors from throughout WNY, across the country and around the globe. Educational sessions will be held at Graycliff, and offer a wonderful opportunity to learn about Wright’s Organic architecture and Buffalo history; to meet others fascinated by Wright’s architecture; and learn to lead tours that we are regularly told are the most highly regarded of any Wright property nationally. Set high on a bluff overlooking Lake Erie, experience sweeping views over the lake, magnificent architecture, all sent within graceful gardens and grounds. This three hour tour is led by Patrick Mahoney, AIA, Vice President of the Graycliff Conservancy and Wright expert, or other Board member. Explore all areas of Graycliff, and get a "behind the scenes" view. Learn about Wright’s special design for Graycliff roofs, his solution to fire hazards, his unique approach to gutter and drainage systems, and other aspects of Wright’s design unique to Graycliff. Discover how Graycliff’s design compares and contrasts with those of other earlier and later Wright designs. This is a tour for the serious architecture, design and/or Wright buff!
