Yuletide in the Country
Sat. Dec 1 to Sun. Dec 2
Yuletide in the Country may be the most unique
craft show you’ll find anywhere. It provides the
perfect place to find last-minute holiday presents
with its intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Nearly
200 premier juried artisans participate in the
event, which recently was named one of the top
70 shows in America by Sunshine Artist
magazine.

Yuletide in the Country was specially-created for
shoppers who either missed Christmas in the
Country (America’s #2 Craft Show by Sunshine
Artist Magazine) or who need to find exceptional
one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. The show offers
attendees the finest in traditional, contemporary
and country crafts, fine arts including unique
pottery and ceramics, jewelry, animal gifts,
candles, home décor and furnishings, as well as
gourmet specialties and of course, Christmas
decorations of all kinds.

And Yuletide in the Country offers a bonus – the
show provides shoppers a chance to purchase
crafts not found at Christmas in the Country.
More than two-thirds of the artisans attending
Yuletide in the Country come in specifically for
this show.

Yuletide in the Country is a Christmas
Wonderland – you can’t help but feel the holiday
spirit! It takes place at the Event Center on the
Fairgrounds in Hamburg, NY, just south of
Buffalo.

Christmas at Hilbert
Sun. Dec 2
Sunday, December 2, 2-4pm
A Live Nativity will bring the
Christmas story to life during Hilbert
College’s 15th annual Christmas
celebration from 2-4 p.m. on December
2. The celebration will include a
children’s Christmas party, complete
with a visit from Santa, following the
nativity.
Featuring the Holy Family, shepherds,
angels, the three wise men and animals
in a small outdoor stable, the Live
Nativity will take place at 2 p.m.
only in the campus quad near the
Campus Center.
The Live Nativity dates back to 1223,
when it was created by St. Francis of
Assisi, founder of the Franciscan
order, which is the spiritual
foundation of the Franciscan Sisters
of St. Joseph, Hilbert’s founding
congregation.
Immediately following the nativity,
the holiday celebration will move
indoors for the children’s Christmas
party in the Hafner Recreation Center.
Free photos with Santa will be
available at the party, which will
also include Christmas arts and crafts
and games. Cookies and hot chocolate
will be provided.
Christmas at Hilbert is free and open

food items to be donated to local food
pantries.

Directed by Scott Behrend

The Mayans predicted it… paranoid radio show hosts eagerly promoted it… blockbuster movies have
been made about it. Now it’s here: the morning of December 21 st , 2012. And everything appears
normal on this clear, sunny, and not terribly hectic Friday morning at the I-90 Angola Rest Stop.
Then it starts to snow. But hey, it’s winter in Buffalo – that’s no shocker, right? But then something
that looks like a small glacier (…that’s not possible, surely?) rolls up the Niagara River and over the
Northtowns, and keeps rolling… and suddenly, the Blizzard of ’77 sounds like mild May picnic in
Delaware Park.

…Just what is happening out there? That’s the question on the minds and tongues of the last eight
denizens of the Angola Rest Stop… the final employees and travelers who waited too long to clock
out or move on, or just barely made it off the road in time, and now are stranded for the duration.
(And exactly how long will that be? Or will the snow (which seems to come out of the ground just as
much as it’s falling from the sky) ever let up?).

An intrepid stock broker is desperate to make it downtown and to the aid of his wife (his 2011
Evoque has let him down in this inclement weather). An increasingly restless salesman nervously
eyes the skies and wonders what kind of a message God might be trying to send him. A socially
awkward performance artist rues the Flash Mob happening that’s been aborted in the wake of the
storm, and rues the shiftless post-college youth that she’s been squandering. An estranged father
and farmer hovers over his ailing teenage daughter as he frets about his flock, left on their own in
the blizzard. A lonely restaurant manager refuses to abandon his post without permission, while a
Border Patrolman’s mind reels at the horrors he’s already witnessed on the Rainbow Bridge… and an
atheist Physics professor preoccupies herself by trying to decipher the inexplicable parade of
numbers appearing on the screen of a depowered cash register.

As temperatures drop and tempers rise, desperate strategies to escape the Rest Stop are undertaken
(and fail), and new and surprising threats loom at every turn. The menacing weather is not the only
danger lurking outside the doors of the Rest Stop… something sinister and possibly unearthly stalks
the grounds, keeping the survivors confined, while madness slowly encroaches from within. What
initially looked like just another rough WNY winter gradually begins to take on the appearance,
indeed, of hell on Earth… h/c access, $

33 VARIATIONS
Wed. Oct 31 to Sun. Dec 2
W 7pm; TH 7pm; F 8pm; SA 4pm & 8pm; SU 2pm
Using Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations as the link, we witness a mother coming to terms with her daughter and a composer coming to terms with his genius. And, even though they're separated by 200 years, these two people share an obsession that might, even just for a moment, make time stand still. Drama, memory and music combine to transport you from present-day New York to 19th century Austria in this extraordinary American play with music about passion, parenthood and the moments of beauty that can transform a life. h/c access, $

Theatre in the Mist presents A Christmas Carol
Fri. Nov 30 to Sun. Dec 9
Fridays & Saturdays 7:30p and Sundays 2:00pm

Focusing on Dickens' powerful language, humor and warmth, this
charming version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL simply and directly tells the story
of the redemption of a human soul. The play follows the ever-powerful
story of Scrooge, a lonely miser, who, through the help of spirits and
visions from his past, present and future, finds a second chance to become
a loving, generous human being. Adapted for a company of six actors,
accompanied by a fiddler, the play requires a minimum of sets, costumes
and props. It begins with a child reading the story for the first time. As the
scenes are played out behind him, the child becomes totally caught up in
the story and is finally invited by the other characters to enter the play as
one of them. With traditional carols and English folk tunes creating the
proper atmosphere, the world of Scrooge, Fezziwig and Tiny Tim comes
alive, igniting the holiday spirit for young and old alike.
