Buffalo ComedySportz
Fri. Jul 9 to Sat. Dec 29
Friday's at 8 pm & Saturdays at 7 pm
ComedySportz is improvisational comedy played as a sport! (If you've ever seen Whose Line Is It Anyway?, you've got the general idea.) Two teams of actors compete for the biggest laughs while a referee calls the fouls and gets suggestions from you, the audience.

Everything we do is improvised. We don't have scripts or pre-planned scenes. That's why a ComedySportz match wouldn't be possible without your suggestions. Just make sure your suggestions are clean, or the referee could call the "Brown Bag Foul" on you, and you'll end up wearing a paper bag over your head.

The Nutcracker
Sat. Dec 8 to Sun. Dec 9
Saturday, December 8@1:00 & 7:00, Sunday, December 9@1:00
The magic of the holiday season begins with the Nutcracker. Come celebrate with a very special performance of the holiday classic with the American Academy's Nutcracker. This production has become a Western New York favorite for the past 16 years. The charm of this production is its child friendly approach. Choreographed to delight children of all ages there are surprises tucked into every scene.
In China a giant dragon takes center stage. In Holland, a 6" Butterfly flies above the sleeping flowers and at the North Pole Santa's elves are putting finishing touches on holiday toys. The Snow Scene takes place in Central Park. A highlight of the Academy's Nutcracker is a visit Clara and her Prince take to exciting lands as they travel around the world in a hot air balloon. "Flying by Foy" returns each year to fly the balloon as well as Herr Drosselmeyer and the Butterfly. This production features Misa Kuranaga who is a Principal Dancer with the Boston Ballet performing the lead role of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Come early and visit the Victorian Village which is set up in the Atrium with many boutiques and holiday music. Children can also meet with Mrs. Claus who will be reading holiday stories in the atrium. h/c access, $

Theatre in the Mist presents A Christmas Carol
Fri. Nov 30 to Sun. Dec 9
Fridays & Saturdays 7:30p and Sundays 2:00pm

Focusing on Dickens' powerful language, humor and warmth, this
charming version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL simply and directly tells the story
of the redemption of a human soul. The play follows the ever-powerful
story of Scrooge, a lonely miser, who, through the help of spirits and
visions from his past, present and future, finds a second chance to become
a loving, generous human being. Adapted for a company of six actors,
accompanied by a fiddler, the play requires a minimum of sets, costumes
and props. It begins with a child reading the story for the first time. As the
scenes are played out behind him, the child becomes totally caught up in
the story and is finally invited by the other characters to enter the play as
one of them. With traditional carols and English folk tunes creating the
proper atmosphere, the world of Scrooge, Fezziwig and Tiny Tim comes
alive, igniting the holiday spirit for young and old alike.
