| Buffalo ComedySportz |
| Fri. Jul 9 to Sat. Dec 29 |
| Friday's at 8 pm & Saturdays at 7 pm |
ComedySportz is improvisational comedy played as a sport! (If you've ever seen Whose Line Is It Anyway?, you've got the general idea.) Two teams of actors compete for the biggest laughs while a referee calls the fouls and gets suggestions from you, the audience.
Everything we do is improvised. We don't have scripts or pre-planned scenes. That's why a ComedySportz match wouldn't be possible without your suggestions. Just make sure your suggestions are clean, or the referee could call the "Brown Bag Foul" on you, and you'll end up wearing a paper bag over your head. h/c access |

| The Nutcracker |
| Sat. Dec 8 to Sun. Dec 9 |
| Saturday, December 8@1:00 & 7:00, Sunday, December 9@1:00 |
The magic of the holiday season begins with the Nutcracker. Come celebrate with a very special performance of the holiday classic with the American Academy's Nutcracker. This production has become a Western New York favorite for the past 16 years. The charm of this production is its child friendly approach. Choreographed to delight children of all ages there are surprises tucked into every scene. In China a giant dragon takes center stage. In Holland, a 6" Butterfly flies above the sleeping flowers and at the North Pole Santa's elves are putting finishing touches on holiday toys. The Snow Scene takes place in Central Park. A highlight of the Academy's Nutcracker is a visit Clara and her Prince take to exciting lands as they travel around the world in a hot air balloon. "Flying by Foy" returns each year to fly the balloon as well as Herr Drosselmeyer and the Butterfly. This production features Misa Kuranaga who is a Principal Dancer with the Boston Ballet performing the lead role of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Come early and visit the Victorian Village which is set up in the Atrium with many boutiques and holiday music. Children can also meet with Mrs. Claus who will be reading holiday stories in the atrium. h/c access, $ |

Forest Lawn kicks off the fourth year of its popular Sunday In The Cemetery® Concert & Lecture Series on November 23 with an all-new It WAS A Wonderful Life (IWAWL), written and directed by Joseph Demerly. Narrator John Lay, Jr. – the first person to take up permanent residence in Forest Lawn (in 1850) – introduces several of the friends he’s made over the last 160+ years at Forest Lawn - all portrayed by local actors. They, in turn, create musical, comical and poignant glimpses of Christmases past, when they enjoyed life on this side of the Lawn! Hear from one of the founders of one of Buffalo’s iconic department stores, famous for its holiday displays. Sing along to some of your favorite Christmas carols. Learn the story behind Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, as told by his first wife, now a permanent resident of Forest Lawn. It all takes place in Forest Lawn’s historic and festively decorated chapel, with 11:00 a.m. and/or 2:00 p.m. performances five days a week through January 5, 2013. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling the Forest Lawn office at 885.1600. Seating is limited; reservations are required. Gift certificates are available. Godspell- A Musical Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew
A modern-day version of the gospels, opening with John the Baptist calling a disparate group of young New Yorkers from their workaday lives to follow and learn from Jesus. They form a roving acting troupe that enacts the parables through song and dance, comedy, and mime. Jesus' ministry ends with a last supper, his Crucifixion, and, the following morning, his body being carried aloft by his apostles back into the world of the living on the streets of New York h/c access, $ |

| Theatre in the Mist presents A Christmas Carol |
| Fri. Nov 30 to Sun. Dec 9 |
| Fridays & Saturdays 7:30p and Sundays 2:00pm |
Focusing on Dickens' powerful language, humor and warmth, this charming version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL simply and directly tells the story of the redemption of a human soul. The play follows the ever-powerful story of Scrooge, a lonely miser, who, through the help of spirits and visions from his past, present and future, finds a second chance to become a loving, generous human being. Adapted for a company of six actors, accompanied by a fiddler, the play requires a minimum of sets, costumes and props. It begins with a child reading the story for the first time. As the scenes are played out behind him, the child becomes totally caught up in the story and is finally invited by the other characters to enter the play as one of them. With traditional carols and English folk tunes creating the proper atmosphere, the world of Scrooge, Fezziwig and Tiny Tim comes alive, igniting the holiday spirit for young and old alike.
