2013 Conservation Tree & Shrub Seedlings Available
Thu. Jan 24 to Wed. Mar 13
8am-5pm
Order forms for the 2013 Conservation Tree and
Shrub Seedling Sale are now available from Erie
County Soil and Water Conservation District.

The District is offering many varieties of
conservation trees and shrubs, wildflower seed
mixes, and seedling packets which have
combinations of trees and shrubs chosen to
attract, feed and shelter birds, butterflies and
other wildlife. Landowners can practice
conservation by planting seedlings and wildflowers
to provide wildlife food and habitat, shelter crops
and landscape, reduce heating/cooling expenses,
protect water quality, reduce air pollution, and
stabilize erodible land. Seedlings are also an
inexpensive alternative for replacing trees that
have been damaged or lost.

Thirty-two species of trees and shrubs are
available this year. The one-to-three-year-old
bare root seedlings, which range in size from 6 to
24 inches, are available in lots of 10 to 500. The
District is offering an expanded selection of four-
year-old evergreen transplants which are more
mature trees with thicker stems, more branching
and more developed roots. Also, a new seedling
introduction to the 2013 program is the broadleaf
tree Shagbark Hickory.

The District also stocks marking flags, fertilizer
tablets, and tree shelters to help promote the
success of your plantings. Bluebird nest boxes can
be ordered through the program or be purchased
at the District office.

Order forms may be obtained by stopping at the
District office at 50 Commerce Way in East Aurora
(behind Post Office), by calling (716) 652-8480
ext. 5, or by printing the order form from the
District website at www.ecswcd.org. Orders are
due by March 15, 2013 and pick-up will be on
Saturday April 13, 2013 at the Fairgrounds in
Hamburg.

Oklahoma!
Fri. Mar 1 to Sun. Mar 17
Fridays & Saturdays - 7:30pm, Sundays - 2:30pm
Music by RICHARD RODGERS
Book & Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMRESTEIN II
Original Dances by AGNES DE MILLE
Based on the play “Green Grow the Lilacs" by LYNN RIGGS
Produced by LANCASTER OPERA HOUSE

Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of this classic musical. Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century. Although the road to true love never runs smoothly, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love's journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road. With a wonderful score including “People Will Say We're in Love”, “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin' ”, and of course the rousing title song, this show set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today.

New Play Workshop Selection

March 1 – March 24, 2013

A World Premiere Play by Donna Hoke

Directed Kristen Tripp Kelley

Married PhD scientist Marjorie has been trying to get pregnant for years, while her single, identical
twin Josephine has three children by three different fathers. Fed up with infertility and pressure from
her otherwise ideal husband Aidan to have children, Marjorie starts to wonder: is it so wrong to not
want to be a parent? Aidan – never fully at ease with being adopted himself – isn’t ready to give up
his quest for a biological child. When Josephine offers egg donor surrogacy as the “ideal” solution,
salesman Aidan gives the pitch of his life and convinces his hesitant wife to inseminate Josephine
personally – in their living room – an awkward scenario which prompts a recollection of a long-ago
encounter that sheds new light on Aidan and Jo’s unspoken bond.

Aidan and Jo bond over the resulting pregnancy, but Marjorie is unable to connect to the idea of
motherhood. When baby Joseph is born early and with serious health issues, Aidan embraces his new
role as a father, but Marjorie’s inability to accept the situation is obvious, particularly to sister Jo and
their mother, Kay, a dubious role model for motherhood herself. As fears over Joseph’s prognosis
increases, the insecurities that brought the sisters to this point come to the fore… and Marjorie’s
crisis of faith may prove insurmountable…

The decision that Marjorie and Josephine arrive at makes for the potent resolution to this unique and
moving family drama…
